Wreaths Across America – Youth Service Project
When asked for ideas/suggestions, the Youth Group always expresses interest in service projects. So we thought participating in the nationwide project, “Wreaths Across America” was a great opportunity. We are working with Babylon Vaults and various local civic groups to obtain and place 300 wreaths on the graves of Veterans buried in Immanuel’s cemeteries on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12 noon at Immanuel Church .
Through October, the combined Youth Group of Immanuel and St. Paul’s is accepting sponsorships for the wreaths. The deadline for sponsorship is November 1. We are working with a small window – please don’t wait! Each wreath sponsorship costs $ 15. You can purchase multiple wreaths. To ensure sponsorship gets appropriately credited to Immanuel, please:
- make checks payable to ‘Wreaths Across America’
- write on the memo line on your check, Group #MD0316 and Cemetery ID #MDIMAN
- mail checks to Babylon Vault Company · 925 Wakefield Valley Road · New Windsor, MD 21776
There are other opportunities to volunteer with this endeavor. You can contact Rachel in the church office, Brenda Wulforst 443-507-6753, or Pastor Charlie. We look forward to hearing from you. Click here to download a sponsorship form.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child will run a little differently this year. Instead of collecting supplies and holding a packing party, each family is invited to pack a shoebox on their own. Empty boxes will be available for pickup each Sunday after church or you can use a shoebox of your own. Suggested items include but are not limited to:
Bars of soap Wash cloths Hair ties Combs Toothbrushes
Packs of crayons Activity and/or coloring books Packs of Pencils
Small toy/stuffed animal (no liquids or war related items)
All these items can be found in the dollar section at Carroll Drugs Pharmacy in Manchester or at the Dollar Store. We cannot pack food, liquid, or any war related items. As of 2017, toothpaste cannot be included.
All filled boxes are due back by Sunday, November 22nd. The Rooney Family will drop off the boxes immediately following the church service.
Every shoebox gift is an excellent resource for evangelism and discipleship which leads to new believers and churches around the world. In addition to hearing the Gospel before they receive their shoebox gift, children also receive The Greatest Gift, a storybook that shares the message of salvation. With the Apostle John as narrator, the booklet shares 11 Scripture stories and invites children to follow Christ. Children take this home to share with family and friends. The book is used in more than 80 languages.
If you have any questions please contact Matthew or Jamie Rooney.
